Artist Statement
This body of work explored the experience of being “scattered” from finding a sense of home within many places. From forming connections and memories there, then moving on. The cylinders are thrown in porcelain and later painted with ceramic water colours illustrating each site that felt like a “home”. The imagery is drawing from memory which gives each piece a turn feeling of nostalgia. while also amplifying the details of each site that sum up its experience. The cylinder is important as it acts as a vessel for experience. While its size correlates to a sites importance and sum of experience.
